Wolves of the Death's Head

WOLVES OF THE DEATH'S HEAD:  The following range represents the Italian volunteers of the Waffen SS "Debica" Battalion and the 29th Waffen Grenadier Division der SS "Italianische No.1".  Disaffected fascists and Italian prisoners of war volunteered to join the Waffen SS from October 1943, initially forming a battalion. But by February 1945, the Germans recruited enough volunteers to raise a weak divisional sized formation. Some of the  Italian Waffen SS saw action at Anzio, but for the most of the war, the Division was engaged against Italian resistance fighters in Northern Italy.  The Division wore Italian uniforms, weapons and equipment with Waffen SS insignia attached.
