This range of figures enables you to recreate the struggle for Muslin Independence in WWII Bosnia, against the communist partisans and nationalist Cetniks on the wargaming battlefield.
The 13th Waffen SS Division "Handschar" was raised in the spring of 1943 from Muslim and Croatian volunteers as part of an ambitious plan to create a Muslim state in the Balkans under the control of the SS. Trained to the highest standards in France and Germany (to escape Croatian interference), the men of the Handschar entered the terrible battlefield of Bosnia early in 1944. They were wearing the traditional fez and observing traditional Muslin religious customs. By doing so they a gained fearsome reputation in combat, giving and expecting no quarter as they cleared Bosnia of their traditional enemies.
As the time of war turned on the axis, occupiers in the Balkans, the men on the Handschar, found themselves fighting a bitter war outside their security zone. This led to some desertions by some elements. Fearing for the security of their families, many Muslim volunteers were released from service and continued a guerrilla war in Bosnia, in a vain hope of keeping the idea of a Muslim state alive.
HANDSCHARSTRIKE: This exciting range contain figures wearing a mixture of Fez, M43 cap and helmets. Some are also equipped with mountain backpacks, giving you the opportunity to form the battlefield units of the "Kama" and "Karstjager" Waffen SS divisions. Remember, we also supply a range of Waffen SS figures that can be used as SS "Prinz Eugea" division.
